Davido, the Nigerian singer , songwriter, and record producer have musically made the Nigerian nation proud in more ways than one.
Davido whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke has however been in the news on several occasions for the wrong reasons.
Starting from when Davido came to the limelight, a year can hardly pass by without the music star recording a death around him. Only recently, (Tuesday, 29th June 2021), Davido lost right-hand man and aide, Obama DMW who died following a suspected heart attack.

2021: The Recent Case of Obama DMW
Before his death, Obama DMW is a very close friend and road manager of the popular Afrobeats singer, Davido.
Obama DMW, who is officially known as Habeeb Ademola Uthman, died on Tuesday 29th, 2021, in Ever Care Hospital in Lekki, Lagos State.
Media Sources revealed that Obama DMW was with Davido earlier on that day when he complained of difficulty in breathing. He later drove to the hospital where he was admitted and unfortunately died a few hours later.
Obama DMW was born and raised in Lagos, where he earned a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Lagos State University before heading to Canada.
On his return, he co-founded a recorded label, Holla At Your Boy, with his friend. The label, however, folded up after the death of his partner.
He later founded another record label, Obama Music Worldwide(OMW). In 2020, he signed upcoming singer, Ayanfe to his record label.
2020; Davido’s King Jhaffi and Tijani was Taken
In 2020, the DMW camp recorded the death of King Jhaffi and Tijani within a space of few months.
King Jhaffi who is also known as Ahmed is a member of Davido’s crew who reportedly died after a brief illness.
Upon his death, Davido took to Instagram and posted a short video clip of King Jhaffi with the Caption: “RIP KING JHAFFI !!!!! WTF MAN …… My boy gone …… Fvck 2020……” With a sad emoji.
On the morning of Tuesday, 8th December, 2020 the Davido crew and fandom woke up to the news of Ogbeide Tijani’s death. Davido also announced this on his Instagram page while recounting some fond memories of him and TJ:
please tell me I am dreaming … my Tj gone ? What imma do without you uncle Tj ehn … 11 years you did all for me .. put me before you at all times .. all the times I wouldn’t wanna wake up for a show or flight you’d carry me like a baby in the car …
no matter what I did right or wrong you were there for me … to allow me spend money sometimes nah problem .. every time ‘david don’t worry I’ll use my card ‘ .. you were such a big person with a baby heart … everyone loved you .. i wanna wake up late for a show so you’d come and carry me again … I don’t even know what I’m typing man … RIP UNCLE TIJANI … tired of being “STRONG”
The cause of his death is still ascertained as it was also blamed on “brief illness”
2017, Three Friends gone in One Week to Strange Circumstances
You can’t brush or wish some things away like death. Losing one friend, yes it happens. But losing two other close friends days apart is definitely suspicious especially in a country where citizens believe so much in rituals ritual killings and so many other superstitions.
Towards the end of 2017, following the deaths of his three friends, Davido one of Nigeria’s great music maker was in and out of the police station for allegedly being responsible for the death of his deceased friends.
First, it was different conflicting reports making waves across the various media platforms about the death of Tagbo Umeike, Davido’s childhood friend. On his birthday, Tagbo was found dead in his car parked in front of Lagos Island General Hospital.
He reportedly died after having several shots of tequila. Other reports claim that he died at a bar in Lekki area after allegedly taking 10 shots of tequila. After a post mortem examination, it was revealed that he died of suffocation.
Before the dust could settle, Davido was hit by the death of two other close friends Olugbenga Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Olu and Chime Amaechi on Saturday 7th.
DJ Olu was found dead in a BMW car in a garage on Block B, Banana Island, Lagos. According police reports, Dj Olu may have died of excessive drug abuse as he was found dead in the car and blood was coming out of his noses and mouths.
Chime Amaechi died in the same situation as he was found in the same car with DJ Olu.
The artist wrote tributes on his social media to mourn his friends and his fans were the none wiser until allegations that he was allegedly involved in the deaths sparked interest, with demands for proper investigations to be carried out.
According to a comment on Davido’s Instagram account from one Kellydgreat, he or she pointed an accusing finger alleging the artist had something to do with the deaths.
‘’Drama King Davido, you are responsible for the Death of three of your friends Tagbo, Chime, DJ Olu who all died the same Way within the Period of 3 days. We really need serious investigation. Something is fishy about the Mysterious death of 3 of your friends in less than a week.
The rich always get away with murder cases in Nigeria but this time your Money can’t save you. I am an insider who knows the whole story. The World will know the truth.’’ The comment read.
Davido then replied and wrote ‘’God bless you.’’ But it did not end there.
Kelly further disclosed that late DJ Olu and his friend were trying to reveal the truth about Tagbo’s death before the unfortunate incident happened.
“Rip DJ Olu and Chime, Olu and Chime were trying to speak up about the truth behind the death of Tagbo, Davido poisoned DJ Olu and Chime. They both died in their car. Special knows about everything. Anyone who speaks publicly about what happened Davido kills them. Immediately I noticed what was going on I ran for my life’’ The comment read.
The late Tagbo’s girlfriend Caroline Danjuma an actress, also accused the artist of having a hand in his death.
The purported investigations into Davido’s involvement in these deaths all ended without gathering any moss. What could be happening to Davido?
